AMAR # 515 Deshpremi Celebrations at Maria Vihar!

This year independence day was celebrated at Maria Vihar Jara Hutkey!

The day began with the flag hosting ceremony at Hostel.  Despite the continuous drizzle, the hostel girls’ spirits were high on Deshbhakti as they sang patriotic songs and delivered fiery speeches setting the ambience ablaze with love for the nation. The novelty of these speeches was one of the girls presented a Christian Freedom Fighter, Mr. Rozarinho Braganza, thus driving home the message that all communities have contributed to the independence struggle of our motherland.

The Key Note of the day was the “Deshpremi Celebration” at 3.30 pm.

We conceived this celebration with the intention of creating bonding between the boarders and the local benefactors, thus creating a stronger support base for our work in favour of needy children.

As the nation celebrates its freedom fighters, we felt it necessary to honour people who even today contribute to nation building in their own big-hearted way by freeing the society, particularly the girl children, from bondage of poverty, hunger and ignorance by generously contributing to their well being.

So with great joy, we welcomed five of our benefactors who support the stay and study of our 48 young children, studying from Std.V to Std.XII.

In turn, our Boarding girls staged a short program, a rhapsody of patriotic songs and dances, followed by felicitation of these guests of honour.  In true Indian style, we presented to them a shawl, a sapling of golden cypress and a Thank You card lovingly prepared by the children. Thus they expressed their gratitude for all that these Deshpremis are doing for them in honour of Mother India.

The day ended with a meaningful Eucharistic celebration and Marian academy at parish during which boarders honoured our Blessed Mother with a graceful prayer dance.
