AMAR # 600 Gratitude Day at Aux-Benaulim

It was the day when the HM was asked to come only when called.  It was 17th October 2018. Aux- Ben was dressed up with the attitude of gratitude towards the community sisters. For the Sisters, the day began at 9.10 with the teachers and the Head Girl welcoming the sisters. We moved towards the school and then from the school gate a special guard of honour with a graceful dance pleasantly surprised us, till we took our places in the basement. The well-displayed theme on the backdrop “Your Peaceful Presence Soothes our Heart” was indeed a touching one.  It gave us the satisfaction and joy that our presence here in Benaulim is valuable and appreciated.

Each Sister was given a brooch with red and white feathers with a dove The commentary made its meaning clear, which we quote – ‘Dove a symbol of love and peace. The feather represents care and protection that you sisters provide to each one of us while we are around you. The red feather symbolizes the redeeming blood of Christ love that is expressed by you dear Sisters through your good word and prayers’.

The vibrant staff of Auxilium Benaulim is well known for their creativity, originality and newness. The Eucharistic Celebration was the crowning glory of the day’s celebration of all thanksgiving and praise. This made a special entry in the annals of the history of Auxilium Benaulim since it was the first time that the Eucharistc Celebration was held on the School Gratitude Day.

Rev. |Fr. Ivan, a Capuchin celebrated the Eucharist. In his preaching, he brought out the theme very well and praised the Sisters for sacrificing their lives, for being instruments of peace and for their soothing presence in the lives of the staff, students and parents.

After the Eucharistic Celebration, a short refreshment break was arranged by the staff for the sisters.  The entertainment programme began with the cutting of the cake which was a wonderful surprise and raising of the toast by Tr. Manisha Da ‘Silva who expressed her sentiment on behalf of the staff. Spot prizes and a game of passing the parcel with a forfeit for each sister amused everyone. Sr. Agatha Dias thanked the staff and the students for this memorable celebration. After the programme, the staff and the non teaching staff joined the sisters in the fellowship meal at the Convent.

The sentiments expressed by our Staff gave us an opportunity to thank God for the persons who work with us in the work of salvation.  We are grateful for their presence in our lives and in the school.  May we always wear this attitude of gratitude for all the blessings God has bestowed on us as educators. And let us allow His blessings to flow into the lives of our students bringing them peace that will always soothe their troubled lives.
