Bidding Farewell to Sr Elizabeth Coelho

A short description of how the educating community expressed their gratitude for Sr Elizabeth's years of service

On 8 th of April 2025, Auxilium High School, Benaulim bid a warm, heartfelt farewell to our beloved Headmistress, Sr. Elizabeth Coelho, who has served the institution with dedication and grace for 14 remarkable years. The Girl Guides Colour Party led a special escort for Sister Elizabeth, along with her relatives and our Manager from the Convent to the school entrance. Headmistress was welcomed and escorted in the most unique Bollywood style.

The Theme "Embracing Transition with Hues of Gratitude" was put up as a backdrop to the stage and also on notice boards at the entrance. The farewell programme began with the Eucharistic Celebration seeking God's blessings upon Sister Elizabeth as she embarks on a new chapter in her life. Fr. Jason Coelho sdb presided over the Eucharist as Fr. Simao Fernandes sdb concelebrated with him. After the Eucharist the students, staff and the invitees were served soft drinks and coffee.

Following this, the farewell ceremony commenced in the school basement. Our dear Provincial Sr. Meenankshi D’Silva’s heartfelt thanksgiving voice message was played on the loud speaker. This was a pleasant surprise for our dear Sr. Elizabeth. The Superior and Manager Sr. Cecelia Crasta addressed the gathering with kind and heartfelt memories. She also conveyed the messages from the previous Superiors Sr. Audrey Dias, Sr. Joanita Antao and Sr. Rosy Mascarenhas.

The Auxilium Staff with their melodious voices sang a beautiful song, composed specially for Sr. Elizabeth, thanking her for years of service, guidance and wisdom. Our Headmistress Sister Elizabeth Coelho was then felicitated with a shawl and plaque by Our Manager as a token of appreciation and love. A representative from each section: Pre-Primary, Primary, Middle School and High School spoke on behalf of the students expressing their heartfelt gratitude and presented their token of love. Students from different classes participated and showcased their talents in different events - Song, a special skit, and a dance performance by Students and teachers. Sr. Elizabeth’s two sisters Mrs. Teresa and Mrs. Hazel Coelho also participated in the programme. They were highly appreciative of this day’s programme. They too expressed their sentiments of gratitude to the children, staff, students and the Management with whom their sister, Sr. Elizabeth had a chance to work with. Mrs. Hazel with a good command over English, wittily spoke about some childhood incidents of Sr. Elizabeth together with her sisters.

In her farewell address, the Headmistress Sr. Elizabeth Coelho expressed her deep love, affection appreciation for Auxilium Family. She also thanked the students, parents and the staff for their constant love and support. Sister encouraged the Students to uphold the values of the school and continue to strive for excellence in all they do. After the programme the staff and the special invitees were served a sumptuous meal.
