The XIII South Zonal Conference was held in the St. Paul Seminary, Nuzvid – Vijayawada Andhra Pradesh from 12 – 14 January 2018, hosted impressively by the Association of Salesian Co-operators of INH Province in a congenial atmosphere. We were 7 participants from the INB Province.
It was both, a very enriching and a fruitful experience. The theme was: Challenges of Salesian Co-operators in their Life and Mission vibrantly animated by Fr. Albert Johnson, the newly appointed South Asia Delegate for the Salesian Family. Sr. Theresa Phawa, National Delegate, spoke on the Lay Ministry tracing briefly the history of the Salesian Co-operators. The other sessions centred around the theme were the 24 steps of PAL(Project of Apostolic Life) by Mr. T.K. Devasia – Formation in-charge for S. Asia, Role of Delegates, and the recent Document on Economic Solidarity by Fr. Albert Johnson. Fr. Gilbert Choondal – Delegate of INK gave a fine presentation of Strenna 2018: “Let us cultivate the art of Listening and of Accompaniment”. The Annual Reports were presented with specific highlight on ‘Family Ministry’. Mr. D.S. Antuvan, World Councillor of Salesian Cooperators for South Asia was on his toes to guide us with apt interventions. Fr. Thathireddy Vijaya Baskar Provincial of Hyderabad, in his homily underscored that the Salesian Co-operators are a part and parcel of the Salesian charism with a mission. It was heartening to listen to the sharing of experiences as Salesian Co-operators.An entertainment programme by the host Province gave us a delightful taste of their distinctive culture.
