Solemn Inauguration of the FMA World Feast of Gratitude 2013

Chennai (India). The Province of St. Thomas, the Apostle (INM) celebrated a grand welcome to Mother Yvonne Reungoat and the Inauguration of the Feast of Gratitude on April 17, 2013 at Fatima Convent, Kodambakkam, Chennai.

In the entrance procession during the Holy Mass, a flag that bears the logo of the Feast of Gratitude was carried to the altar. The Eucharist was presided by His Excellency  Archbishop George Antonysamy of Madras – Mylapore and was concelebrated by twenty one priests. The Archbishop in his sermon highlighted the theme of the Feast of Gratitude, “Together in Faith Towards  Fullness of Life.”  He exhorted the assembly to reflect on faith and persevere like the apostles.

After the Eucharist followed the inaugural program. Sr. Magnificat Soosai, Provincial Superior and the Sisters accompanied Mother Yvonne in the entrance procession to the tune of Nadaswaram, a traditional music of Tamilnadu.  Some students delivered messages of welcome, gratitude, and witnessing.  The young people performed  different traditional and classical dances. Mother General in her message to the young expressed her happiness to see them  gathered in large numbers.  She exhorted them to grow as courageous young people and to imbibe knowledge and values. Mother thanked the Educating Community and expressed her desire that the FMA Institutions should become workshops of peace and faith.

In the afternoon, Mother met with the community animators of INM Province. In her speech she highlighted the message that community is the workshop of living together which is a channel for education and evangelization, rendering service in joy and humility, and a place where we can practice our vows and reciprocal accompaniment.
