The first Virtual Past Pupils meet for the year 2021-22 was held on 20th July at 15:30. The meet began with a short prayer, led by Tr. Veena Barbosa. The Headmistress, Sr. Elizabeth Coelho introduced the new Manager and Animator Sr. Rosy Mascarenhas. Sr. Rosy welcomed the gathering and was happy to see so many past pupils present.
Sir Chalton then introduced the speaker of the evening, Rev Dr. Bolmax Pereira. Father spoke on the topic Youth: Voice for Environment and be “the change”. He started by giving an example of the German Revolution where the youth came together to unite West Germany with East Germany by bringing down the Wall of Berlin. He also gave examples of various youth leaders who are fighting for justice in India. He then informed the past pupils of the Movement started by him along with the youth of his parish called “Save Mollem” which is against the three linear projects which the Government was forcing to complete by destroying the forests of Mollem. At the end he spoke on Sustainable Agriculture which they have started in his parish- St. Xavier’s Parish, Chicalim through community farming. Most of these facts made a deep impression on the group
Activity: A challenge was thrown open to the past pupils- called “THE AUXI ENVIRONMENT” by Tr. Anjali Albuquerque. They could opt for one challenge or all three.
1. Make your own kitchen garden
2. Grow your own micro greens.
3. Compost bin.
It is a 90-day challenge. Cash prizes for the best three will be awarded. For the kitchen challenge and micro greens, a 1-minute video of the completed activity in a phased manner from sowing to harvesting and for the compost activity a 1-minute video of the process of composting phase wise is to be posted on the email account [email protected].
Sr. Elizabeth then asked the past pupils to give their names to form the Past Pupil Committee. After some chit-chat and promises to stay connected, we ended the Webinar.
