AMAR# 1669 Baroda teachers- weeklong workshop

 ‘Critical Thinking and Problem Solving’

‘Well begun is half done’ so before we could begin our academic session 2022-23, Auxilium Baroda organised a weeklong workshop for teachers on skill development and the sessions were taken up by the expert teachers, who shared their deep insights on the topics with life examples. 

On 7th June 2022, Mrs. Honoreen Mendez chaired and administered a brilliant and refreshing offering on the essential elements of creative thinking and problem-solving. She demonstrated and expounded on the fundamentals of critical thinking, and how to apply it in real-world scenarios.
She delved into the paramount significance of having the soft skills to think lucidly and sharply and make coherent and cogent patterns of thought and reasoning. Her session was much appreciated and lauded by the students and teachers present. Her delivery was rich yet elegantly concise.

 ‘Creative thinking’

On 8th June, Mrs. Honoreen Mendez dealt on another module on Creative thinking.  It was a comprehensive and insightful panorama of the hallmark qualities and traits that go into thinking and writing with the full potential of one’s creative fuel. She enriched the session with a terrific video that detailed on and entailed the components that distinguish superb craft from inferior quality. She motivated the teachers to venture into novel avenues and enterprises in creative thinking and narrative construction.

 ‘Public Speaking and Openness to Feedback’

Date: June 9, 2022 – First Half

On 9th June 2022, Mrs. Jyotsna Metha, skilfully and dexterously covered with seamless ease the defining attributes of being a commanding and charismatic public speaker. But the real highlight of her session was how she demonstrated the priceless value of knowing how to receive and give constructive feedback while keeping an open and unfettered mind. For the same purpose, she devised a rather engaging and creative game where teachers were asked to come to the stage in pairs of two and mention positive qualities and shortcomings about each other. It was a meaningful exercise that showcased how to communicate and incorporate compliments and complaints in a harmonious way. On the overall, the session was enjoyed by everyone alike.

 ‘Active Listening and Working in Teams’

On 9th June 2022, second session was taken up by Sr. Priscilla Travasso the school manager.   ‘If you judge people, you have no time to love them’. These wise and eloquent words by the much revered Mother Teresa characterized the essence of sisters masterful session on active listening and working in teams. Sister greatly emphasized on the pragmatic virtue of introspection and contemplation before leaping to quick and convenient conclusions. She played a TED Talk where using the visual prop of 5 chairs, a person overcomes various stages from judgment to understanding through thoughtful reflection. She stressed on what it takes to be actively tolerant and empathetic, and that everyone navigates their lives on the basis of their unique circumstances and temperament. One should approach issues and people with a sense of conciliation and growth, not judgment and criticism. Only then can we amplify each other’s collective synergies and develop and progress as a larger group, as a community.

 ‘Curiosity and Imagination’

On 10th June 2022, Mrs. Lucy Mao took up the session on ‘Curiosity and Imagination’ was a power-packed presentation on the boundless force of human curiosity and our capacity for imagination. She earnestly focused on the unfathomable growth that we have made as a species through the sole faculty of curiosity alone. She played a video where a young boy was asking seemingly eccentric and endless questions, and urged the audience to think about the answers to the questions posed. On pensive reflection, one could perceive the tremendous depth of knowledge, information, and understanding that underlined these curious and imaginative questions. Curiosity and imagination are cardinal pillars of humanity’s intellectual milestones over the centuries, and we should continually strive to nourish our own sense of curiosity and imagination.

Finally the Principal appreciated all the speakers who took trouble to share their expertise with the teachers.  They were presented with a token of gratitude.
