AMAR # 1731 World Day of Migrants @ MYC

            On 25th September 2022 , Mazzarello Youth Centre, Wadala was filled with joy  and cheer on having 100 migrants in the campus from  Under the Ghansoli Bridge, Sanpada and Wadala. Sr.Moksha Anthonappa province coordinator for migrant ministry ( Project Sahara) along with Sr.Rita Dora Thomasorganized  half day Programme on the theme, “Building the Future with Migrants and Refugees” to celebrate the 108th World Day of Migrants and Refugees. 

            Programme commenced at around 2.00 pm with the registration and stall games organized by the volunteers of Sahara and Anmol projects. The joy on receiving a prize after winning a game was unimaginable. The thrilling site for the organizers was the enthusiasm with which the young and old participated in the games.

             Cultural Programme began at around 3.30 pm with prayer moment and a welcome address by Sr. Moksha Anthonappa followed by the felicitation of the chief guest Fr. Glaston, secretary of the Migrant desk of Archdiocese Bombay, and Guest of honors Sr. Shanta Philo, Sr.Aruna Castellino and Sr. Audrey Dias. Fr. Glaston and Sr. Rita Dora Thomas both in their respective speeches stressed on thanking them for who they are and what they do and assured them their support to have a bright future.  The highlight of the Programme was  the celebration of the triple jubilees  where the guest of honors cut the cake celebrating three milestones of the Institute and the province. Along with talks there was also entertainment, the variety of dance displayed by each group was indeed marvelous.

            After the cultural Programme the adult members were led to the 2nd floor for an input session by Sr. Macline. She with her PowerPoint presentation helped them to understand their role in the society enthusing in them confidence and self-esteem. At the end of the input session each individual was given a bag of cake mix packets, a gift for the family and snacks and food box. The joy seen on their faces at the end of the Programme spoke volumes.

             Thanks to all those who contributed for the celebration… it was the joint effort of many who made this day a success for us and a memorable one for those least of the society who participated. May God bless us all.
