Light is the harbinger of joy, prosperity and eternal bliss of the soul’

Diwali, the festival of lights that enlightens the hearts and brings joy to every heart was celebrated in Auxilium High School Benaulim on 18 th October 2022. Decorated in vibrant hues, the school had an ambience of joy and happiness. The programme began with a meaningful prayer service highlighting the message of Diwali, invoking God’s blessings.  The manager, Headmistress, the teachers and some students came in procession with the lamps while the Hymn ‘ Jyoti tumari satat jalegi, aya hu uzala lene’. Was played. The students sang a song on the occasion of Diwali.
The Principal appreciated the children and teachers, applauded the performers and encouraged students to celebrate a pollution-free Diwali.

“Mental Hygiene”

The Management of Auxilium High School, Benaulim, Organized a workshop on the Topic “Mental Hygiene” for its staff members. It was conducted on 9th November 2022 from 8.30 am to 12.00 pm. followed by a group discussion. The resource person for the workshop was Fr. Edison Fernandes.

The workshop was held in order to increase awareness issues related to mental health. Fr. Edison Fernandes helped the staff members to recognize signs, symptoms of mental health problems in students in a school setting and how to offer help by counselling.

He clarified doubts and advised how to handle students who are facing problems like anxiety, low self-esteem, anger management etc.

After the presentation there were interactions, discussions and feedback. The staff members felt motivated and came up with   conclusion to address this burning issue of mental health. The training increased teacher’s knowledge, changed their beliefs about the treatment to be more like those of a mental therapist, reduced some aspects of stigma, and increased confidence in providing help to students and colleagues.

They then worked in groups and came up with practical suggestions of how to do this effectively and at the general assembly, we picked up those that can be put into immediate effect.

The ADMA – Benaulim Unit

The ADMA – Benaulim Unit organised a Faith Formation programme on the 12th of November 2022 at the Auxilium High School  Benaulim. Nine schools from the South of Goa participated in the programme. Each school had 15 participants and were accompanied by their Teacher. Mrs. Racheal Fernandes, President of the Unit welcomed the participants followed by Sr. Elizabeth who declared the programme ‘Open’. The children had their thinking caps on as Fr. Marvin Vaz (sdb) kept them captivated with quizzes, puzzles, etc. and Mrs. Enid Varela assisted him. Sr. Anita, the Spiritual Animator was over seeing the programme as the other ADMA members helped with checking the answer sheets and distribution of snacks and soft drinks. Sr. Elizabeth meticulously kept the scores and finally announced the winners of the day.

First place was bagged by St. Mary’s High School Varca, the second place by St Pius x High School Orlim and third place by   Mount Mary’s High School, Chichinim.

The winners were given trophies and all the participants were given Participation Certificates and gifts. The children shared that they had a wonderful experience, they learnt more of our Blessed Mother and were happy to interact with students of other schools.  They dispersed with smiles on their faces and with more knowledge  and love for our Blessed Mother.
