Feast of Laura Vicunna in Mazzarello Kendra Kasarkod
On 23rd January 2023 we at Mazzarello Kendra celebrated the feast of Bl. Laura Vicunna together with our sisters, teaching and non-teaching staff and students, with great pomp and show, reflecting on the theme, “A little saint with giant love”.
On this day the celebration began with a meaningful prayer service animated by the leaders of Laura Vicuna group of High school section of English medium. To add more meaning to the reflection and prayer, our tiny tots of Kinder Garten section performed a prayer dance. Later every member of Laura Vicunna group, under the guidance of their in charge teachers performed a dance, a play depicting the whole life story of Laurva Vicunna and sang songs in different languages to honour this little saintly figure and brought out the message of living lives by spreading love.
To mark this day the girls from KG to std. 4th had the Fancy dress competition of “Dress Like Laura”, in which many of the girls took part, enthusiastically and presented themselves by dressing like Laura Vicunna before the assembly with a short message. The winners were felicitated with the prizes by our manager Sr. Angeline Fernandes and then she spoke on the theme, how Bl. Laura Vicunna being a teenage girl could change her mother’s sinful ways by her love and sacrifice to God and above all her purity is what matters, in the same all should strive to become like Laura and live the life of purity. At the end the group members had organized Housie game for all the students and teachers. It was indeed a fun filled time of celebration. Thus we ended the celebration with the happy words of thanksgiving.
