AMAR # 1770:  Together for a Better Internet’ @ Koregoan

Safer Internet Day was well animated at Auxilium Welfare Centre- K P Pune on 8th February 2023. Sr. Sunanda Solanki introduced the students to the “Safer Internet Day” started as an initiative of the European Union’s (EU’s) Safe Borders project in 2004 and  taken up by the Insafe network as one of its earliest actions in 2005, according to its website. It is now celebrated in nearly 200 countries across the world. The “Safer Internet Day” is observed every year on the second day of the second week of February with the aim of providing a safer and better internet, where every user is able to use the internet responsibly and without getting their data hacked into.

This year marks the 19th edition of “Safer Internet Day” with initiatives taking place right across the globe. The theme ‘Together for a Better Internet’ calls upon all stakeholders to join together to make the internet a safer and better place for all and especially for children and young people.

The resource person of the day was introduced to the students. Mr. Tinku Nath a well-known Facebook figure who uploads motivational talks in his vernacular language, Assamese. He has almost 1K likes for each motivation. Since he was asked to share his thoughts and ideas much in advance he was well prepared. He spoke on the importance and safer uses of internet. A good and friendly guidance was given to the youngsters and adult students too. He also spoke of  the negative and unhealthy impact of the Internet on internet users. The Animator of the Community was present for the session and congratulated the speaker for his efficient talk gifting him a book “DREAM YOURSELF INTO REALITY” by Anastasia Rose Dias. It was indeed an enriching day for all our students.
