AMAR # 768 Eco cum Science Week at Aux-Caranzalem

On the 21st to the 28th of February, we celebrated Eco cum Science Week at Auxilium Caranzalem culminating it with the National Science Day. Throughout the week the Morning assembly was well animated by students with the help of Science teachers. The themes for various days were Birds of Goa, Water Conservation, Segregation of Garbage, Cure in my kitchen and Endangered Species. Each day was beautifully animated with the help of skits and posters. The notice board too highlighted the need for Conservation of the Environment. There were different competitions too during the week like complete the story, collage, caption, quiz etc. We also had collection drives of plastic bottles and tetra packs.

During the week we had two outdoor trips. Students of Std VI were taken to the field, where they interacted with the farmers, thanked them for their contribution to society and offered them a gift. They also learnt about the different vegetables grown in the field. The farmers too generously offered sweet potatoes and brinjals to the children.  The eco-club members accompanied by Sr. Priya Tauro and Sr. Melissa D’Souza visited the Solid Waste Management plant in Saligao. There they were shown how the garbage is segregated and was also encouraged to do segregation at the local level. On the 28th the week concluded with various experiments in Science and the prize distribution ceremony.
