AYAC, Dahanu celebartes the Girl Child Day!

In India, a Girl Child is the goddess to be respected. She is in the form of Laxmi (goddess of wealth), Saraswati (goddess of knowledge), and Sita (ideal consort of Lord Sri Ram). She is presented also in the form of Durga (destroyer of evil). But what is the reality in real life? It is quite different. It is said that, ‘God created mothers because He could not be present everywhere.’ It is unbelievable to realize that we, humans are continuously destroying someone beautiful even before she can come to life and see the beauty of the world.Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India has expressed it eloquently: “You can tell the condition of a nation by looking at the status of its woman.” 11th September 2017, was a special day for all of us at AYC Dahanu. The young girls were dressed in colorful clothes for the celebration of the Girl Child Day. The theme was ‘You are precious.’ The day began with a prayer service and 11 girls were specially honored on this occasion. ‘A letter from the womb’ was read to the whole assembly and everyone listened to it with particular attention. The day was filled with dances, songs, poem recitation and debates. The participants were given the strong message: Every one of us is precious. God created us as loving human beings let us pass on this precious love of God to each person as we meet one another each day. Sr. Mariet Luckose, the animator spoke on the responsibility of being a woman and encouraged each girl to become a responsible woman in the society. The staff of GDA (General Duty Assistance) served a delicious lunch making everyone happy. Long Live the Girl Child!
