The Salesian Sisters of Dakor and Pansora hosted a deeply meaningful deanery-level celebration on 16 November 2024 to honour the feast of St. Maria Troncatti, who was recently canonized on 19 October 2025 by Pope Leo XIV. Priests, religious, and faithful from across the Deanery of Umreth gathered to celebrate the inspiring legacy of this missionary saint, whose life radiated faith, compassion, and extraordinary dedication to the service of the poor. The gathering reflected a shared sense of joy and gratitude for a woman whose holiness continues to guide and uplift the Church.

The solemn Eucharistic Celebration, presided over by Bishop Athanasius Rethna Swamy, became the spiritual heart of the event. He was joined by Vicar General Fr. Walter D’Souza, Dean Fr. Praveen Macwana, and Salesian priests from surrounding communities, making the liturgy a moment of grace-filled communion. The presence of religious sisters along with students from the SDB and FMA junior hostels added life and beauty to the celebration. A reverent entrance dance captured the spirit of devotion, while the cultural programme highlighted St. Maria’s heroic virtues and her selfless mission as a nurse among the Shuar people of Ecuador. A short video presentation provided a touching portrayal of her courageous ministry, drawing the congregation into the heart of her story.

The celebration concluded with a warm felicitation ceremony, where gratitude was expressed for the saintly example and missionary zeal of St. Maria Troncatti. A joyful fellowship meal followed, offering a moment for all present to share in unity, friendship, and thanksgiving. More than a commemorative event, the gathering became a living tribute to St. Maria’s legacy—an invitation for the faithful of the deanery to continue her mission of love, healing, and humble service.
