FEAST OF ST. MARIA TRONCATTI – MISSIONARY OF THE AMAZONS – AUXILIUM BARODA

Auxilium Baroda joyfully celebrated the feast of St. Maria Troncatti, the beloved Missionary of the Amazons, with deep pride and gratitude. The entire community came together to honor this remarkable Salesian Sister who dedicated her life to serving others with courage, compassion, and faith.

All six of us sisters set out to celebrate her canonization and sainthood in three churches — Don Bosco Church, St. Joseph’s Church, and Our Lady of the Rosary Church, as well as The Carmel Ashram. Through these visits, we spread devotion to St. Maria Troncatti and made her life and mission known to many.

Back at school, the celebration continued with our teachers, support staff, clerical staff, and students, who all joined in the thanksgiving. The life and mission of St. Maria Troncatti were presented through engaging PowerPoint presentations and videos that beautifully captured her extraordinary journey.

St. Maria Troncatti devoted 47 years of her life to the Shuar tribes in the Amazon Forest of Ecuador. As a nurse, catechist, teacher, and peacemaker, she dedicated herself to providing education, catechesis, and healthcare, working tirelessly to bring reconciliation between the Shuar people and the European settlers. Despite countless hardships, she never lost her faith or zeal for service. Her life was a radiant testimony to the words she lived by: “Let us work with love; everything else will come in its time.”

To make the day more memorable, everyone was given bookmarks, keychains, stickers, and snacks, helping everyone carry a small token of St. Maria’s spirit home. It was truly a moment of joy and pride as we reflected on her life of faith and invited everyone to follow her example of selfless love, perseverance, and missionary courage.

May St. Maria Troncatti continue to inspire and intercede for us so that we, too, may be faithful and effective in our mission of love and service.
