SAFEGUARDING AWARENESS PROGRAMME FOR TAILORING AND BEAUTY PARLOUR STUDENTS - GANDHINAGAR

On 5th August 2026 – The Gandhinagar community organized a special Safeguarding Awareness Programme for 40 young students who are receiving tailoring and beauty parlour training in their respective areas. Since many of these young people come from distant and economically disadvantaged backgrounds, our team reaches out to them in their own localities and provides training at their doorstep. For this programme, they were brought to our institute by our community vehicle. For many of them, it was their first visit to our institute, and they were delighted and excited to be welcomed into the centre.

These young people come from poor families, and some are school dropouts. Yet, they have a strong desire to learn, improve their lives and live with dignity. Their eagerness to acquire skills such as tailoring and beauty parlour training gives them hope for a brighter and more independent future.

The programme began with a prayer led by Sr. Pushpa Parmar, invoking God’s guidance and protection. The day was particularly significant as 5 August is an important day for the congregation and the foundation day of our institute. On this special occasion, we also remembered and celebrated the Sisters who made their First Profession on this day. It was a meaningful opportunity to share with the young participants the mission and services carried out by our institute for the empowerment of young people.

Sr. Rita Dora Thomas, Superior of the community, welcomed the students and introduced them to the work of our institute through a PowerPoint presentation. She explained how the mission began, introduced them to our Founder, and shared about the presence and mission of the congregation in different countries. She also explained the various works undertaken for children, young people and families, especially those who are vulnerable and in need of support.

Following this, Miss Madhuri Wagh conducted the Safeguarding Policy session. She explained each slide clearly and helped the participants understand the importance of safeguarding in their daily lives. The session focused not only on knowing how to protect oneself but also on understanding what to do when a difficult or unsafe situation arises, whom to approach, where to report a concern and how to seek help.

The students participated actively and were happy to receive this important knowledge. They realized that safeguarding is not only a policy but also a practical way of protecting themselves and others and creating a safe environment.

After the session, an interactive game was organized to help the young participants understand, in a simple and practical way, how they can protect themselves and respond wisely in difficult situations. The programme concluded with snacks and a joyful moment of fellowship.
