SETTING UP VERMIN COMPOST FOR KITCHEN GARDEN - PANSORA

On 17th June 2025, the Sisters of Jag Prakash Kanya Chatralay, Pansora, organized a training session on setting up vermi compost for kitchen gardens for the boarding children. A total of 42 children participated, along with 3 Sisters, 1 teacher, and 2 social workers.

The session began with a short prayer and a warm welcome to all the children, Sisters, and the resource person, Sr. Monica Parmar from Pansora. The main objective of the training was to encourage children to set up vermi compost systems for their kitchen gardens, helping them connect with nature and take responsibility for its care.

Using a PowerPoint presentation, Sr. Monica Macwan explained the step-by-step process of setting up a vermi compost pit in a garden. She also demonstrated how to properly separate dry and wet waste, which is essential for making effective compost.

The children were excited to learn something new and expressed their eagerness to try it out at their homes during the holidays.

The training, conducted under the guidance of Sr. Shaila D’Monte, proved to be a meaningful and joyful learning experience for all involved.
