Throughout July and August 2024, Auxilium Convent School Baroda, celebrated Van Mahotsav with a series of engaging events that united students across all sections in a shared commitment to nature and sustainability. This year's theme, "Growing Green Together," captured the spirit of the week, as students participated in a variety of activities that emphasized the importance of environmental stewardship.

From 1st to 6th July, students in both the Gujarati and English Primary sections exchanged saplings, fostering a sense of responsibility and joy in nurturing new life. Together, they planted trees around the campus, creating a lasting “green print” that symbolizes our promise to protect our environment. A colorful poster competition allowed students to express the beauty of forests and the importance of trees, while an interactive environment quiz challenged their eco-knowledge, encouraging them to think deeply about conservation.

On 8th and 9th August, students from the English medium continued the celebrations with equal enthusiasm, exchanging saplings and participating in a second round of tree planting, adding to the “green legacy” on campus. The activities were inspired by Laudato Si’s seven goals, reminding everyone that ecological education, sustainable practices, and care for our common home are vital steps toward building a healthier world.

The celebrations continued on 17th August with a dedicated tree-planting drive by the school’s Guides. Embracing Robert Swan’s words, “The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it,” the Guides took action to secure a greener future, working together to plant saplings around the school. Their efforts highlighted that every small step matters and underscored the commitment of each student to actively protect and cherish our planet.

This Van Mahotsav was more than a week of festivities; it was a pledge by our school community to create a sustainable future, inspired by the values of ecological responsibility and unity in protecting our environment for generations to come.
