We the sisters of Maria Vihar celebrated our community day on 30th October 2020 with the theme “Building Bridges of Social Friendship for a caring society”.
During the past ten days we have been preparing ourselves for our community day by praying for each sister and the different people connected to our community. We tried building bridges of social friendship in different ways like sharing and celebrating Dussehra with our teachers and helpers, local vendors near our house, the garbage collectors and we also had the online programme for all the sectors of our mission .The message of the day was “ The Blessings of Dussehra bring to our nation Health, Happiness and Peace.” Different thoughts on Harmony, Unity, Peace and Love were put in and around the campus.
On the eve of this great day, we had the vigil service which highlighting how each Sister has been a bridge builder in the community. After that we had sharing of simple gifts prepared for the occasion.
We welcomed the following day with sentiments of eager joy in our hearts. The Morning Prayer highlighted the meaning of Thanksgiving in our lives. Fr. Leon Cruz SDB presided over the Eucharist spelling out to us the meaning of the celebrations in the light of the Salesian tradition.
We went for a short outing to the Farm of Mr. Vijay Gaikwad. We enjoyed together each other’s company while cooking on the charcoal fire. After a delightful meal together, we went out on the hills around exploring the place. Then we had a thanksgiving rosary, some hilarious games and a high tea.
At 7.30pm, the Sisters and novices from SHTC come to visit us with gifts and we had some soulful moments of sisterly camaraderie in their company.
The day concluded with much joy and memories to remember always and we will continue building bridges keeping in mind the words of Pope Francis that,“Each of us can learn something from others. No one is useless and no one is expendable.” – Fratelli tutti
