An orientation meeting for the teachers of Gujarati medium was organized by the School Management on the 25th of June, 2021. At the onset, our Principal Sr. Philomena Lobo welcomed the teachers and the speaker of the day, Fr. Vincent Saldanha sj. Mr. Justin Chauhan introduced of the speaker.
Fr. Vincent Saldanha made the teachers aware about their roles and responsibilities in these trying times of the pandemic, virtual classes and mass promotions. This orientation seminar has given us insight on the fact that although the students have to make their own future secure, the teachers must play a key role in achieving that.
During the seminar he also made us aware of the importance of inter-personal communications skills in a teacher’s life. He conducted and supervised some activities where teachers were made conscious of their strengths, weaknesses, successes and possibilities. These unprecedented times require a different type of approach and response. The teachers should encourage the students to think critically instead of just providing information to them; inculcating knowledge instead. He explained the acronym AAACT- awareness, acceptance, action, change and transformation.
We are thankful to our Manager Sister Priscilla Travasso, Principal Sister Philomena Lobo and Fr. Vincent Saldanha whose joint efforts encouraged us teachers to be willing to counsel, advise and educate the students and take them to new and different paradigms.
