AMAR # 1449 “Forest Bathing” @ Sacred Heart Novitiate – Nashik

On 1st September 2021 (today) in our community of SHTC Nashik, Sr Jaya Pedthala animated the meditation on the theme of “Forest Bathing” originally termed “Shinrin-Yoku” from its founding roots in Japan. This meditation helps us to silence our thoughts and become immersed in the natural environment in order to connect with nature. Through this practice the participants learn to tune in to the smells, textures, sounds and sights of the forest; they take in the surroundings by using all their senses.

We began this meditation at 6.20 am. Sr Jaya introduced the meditation which is based on our senses, though which we can see hear, smell taste, and feel the experience of nature. We were given time to walk slowly or sit somewhere and experience this “Forest Bathing” while letting nature sink into ourselves.

On this first day where we have commenced the Season of Creation, indeed it was a very rich experience for the Sisters and novices through it we learned to experience the presence of God in nature.
