Long live India! Vande Mataram! Bharat Matha Ki Jai!

These and other patriotic slogans have the order of the day as our school joined the nation in celebrating India’s independence day has a double cause for celebration the feast of the Assumption of our Blessed Mother Mary. It also makes the start of the Marian month that is observed in the school.

The Chief Guest for the day was Ms.Hema an officer of Indian Navy, INS Shivaji Lonavla. Sr. Josephine Fernandes bearing the statue of Mother Mary led the procession in the school basement. The Chief Guest was ushered in by Sr. Sheela Furtado. The School Captain and house captains bearing their respective flags added a note of grandeur to the entry. A Marian-cum –Independence day prayer service followed. There were speeches in English, Hindi, and Marathi. Many items like a song, dance and drama were staged by the students of the primary and secondary section.

The Chief Guest addressed the gathering and spoke about our Indian Armed Forces. She also showed a video highlighting the role of the Indian Navy. She encouraged students to follow their dream even of joining the Armed Forces of India. ‘My India, My Pride’ was the note all through the programme even as the school sang Vande Mataram after the address of the headmistress, Sr. Sheela. The 1st day of the Marian month had the theme ‘ Mary, Our Mother. The Sisters had decorated the statue in the school building giving a start to the Marian Month and all the classes will follow in turn.

After thus honouring Mother Mary and our nation, the school dispersed.

 

16th August 2018 Singing competition & Rakhi making Competition.

 Two competitions were held on 16th August. The individual and group singing competition was held in the first half of the day. Students from all classes and the four houses showcased their singing talents and were judged. The theme for their song was “Let’s us fill the environment with music”.  The students performed well and the results were declared.

The second activity was Rakhi making. Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated all over India on August 26th All students from Std. V. to X prepared rachis with eco, friendly materials. The best rakhis were selected and sent by speed post to our brave jawans at the borders of India along with a letter greeting them on this beautiful Indian festival and also appreciating their work and sacrifices. Thus Raksha Bandhan this year will have an added meaning for all our students.
