On 2nd October 2018, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri was celebrated in Auxilium Convent, Lonavla. The programme began with a short prayer service which included the lighting of the lamp and offering garland and flowers to our great leaders. Students also sang the famous Bhajan “Raghu Pati Raghav Raja Ram”. It was followed by short speeches on the life of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri delivered by students of Std IX and VII. After paying homage to these great personalities announcement was done to follow the schedule of cleanliness programme.
Students were divided into various groups and they cleaned the following places:
- Classrooms
- Verandas
- School campus
- Roadsides
- Landscape Garden etc.
The USM students and the Green line students along with their teachers organized an awareness rally on the occasions of Gandhi Jayanti. After the Rally our green line students and teachers were felicitated by LMC for excellent cleanliness drive at the monsoon lake. The cleanliness programme helped our students to develop the value of dignity of labour and they realized the importance of cleanliness in everyone’s life and in the society.
