The Salesian Cooperators of Kalathur Unit decided to celebrate on Sunday 18th November the Children’s Day at Maria Niwas, Kalathur. With the permission of the Parish Priest, Fr. Lawrence D’Souza the youth of the Parish helped to conduct the programme. Mr. Mark D’Souza, the president of the Kalathur Unit arranged the programme of the day.
At 2.30 pm the children of the parish youth and children started to arrive with their mothers. The youth of the Parish enthusiastically came to conduct various programmes. Everyone was welcomed by Sr. Superior, Sr. Lucy Rodrigues.
The games were conducted according to three different age groups. Three games for each group were conducted.
Mr. Mark D’ Souza had organized the whole programme and invited Jesvita Quadros the National President of the YMM and YCS to be the chief guest of the day.
After the games in the hot sun, all those who gathered for the programme gathered in the hall and an inspiring prayer service was conducted by the children of the boarding helped by the Sr. Lavita Braganza.
Mr. Mark D’Souza prepared a quiz programme on the Children’ Day and the Life of Jawaharlal Nehru and his family history for all those present.
The chief guest of the day, the Parish vice President and the Youth of the Parish of Kalathur were invited on the dais and were felicitated.
The chief guest then was requested to give away the prizes to the winners of the various games and quiz.
The children of the boarding put up some dance programme. Sr. Beatrice Monteiro was invited to cut the cake of the Children’s Das she celebrated her 80th Birthday on 13th November and all those who celebrated their birthday during this month were also had the joy of cutting the cake.
Snacks and drinks were then distributed to all those present. Jesus, Mary Don Bosco and Mother Mazzarello who loved children seem to be present for the programme as everyone enjoyed the day for all present felt the blessings from heaven.
