AMAR # 713 Graduation Day at Ahmednagar

The long-awaited day for our second year nursing students dawned on the 26th January 2019 as they graduated as nurses.  The programme began with the grand lezim procession played by our first year students who escorted the Chief Guest, our Provincial Sr. Rita Dora Thomas FMA, Guest of Honour, Sr. Aruna Castellino, the Manager, Sr. Teresa Plathara, in-charge of Community College Sr. Krupalatha Pereira, tutors and the second year students.  They were welcomed with the traditional aarathi. ‘All glory and honour belong to God’ and so we invoked God with the lighting of the lamp and a prayer dance which was followed by felicitations of all the guests. After the welcome dance, Sr. Krupalatha Pereira read the report of the academic year 2018-2019.  Then began the cultural performances that were spread out well.

Our second-year students were led into a candlelight procession; they then took the oath and sang the theme song.  This batch of students was extremely lucky as they have in hand 4 certificates in all before they leave our institute.

  1. Diploma in General Health Care and Maternity Assistant affiliated to the Central Government (Bharat Sevak Samaj)
  2. Hospital Assistant course affiliated to Nari Institute of Pune
  3. Tailoring done under PMKVY and
  4. Computer course in MS Office (Government).

These certificates were distributed to the 44 students and indeed it was a sight to behold!

Then our dear Provincial spoke words of wisdom, saying, “This is a noble profession, in fact, it’s just not a profession but a vocation to love and to serve the sick and save lives.”  We also had three of our students sharing their success stories which brought tears to our eyes. Tears of joy of course!  The deserving students also received Scholarships for their excellence in studies as well as in behavior.

The programme ended with a vote of thanks and distribution of snacks.  We thank God Almighty for helping us empower these young girls who are economically poor and also are from broken families.
