We began the Summer Fun 2019 on 4th April with 80 enthusiastic participants ranging from Class 5 and above. The theme for this year was based on the Disney film ‘Brave’ which set a tone for the entire event. Besides this ‘Care for the environment and efforts to reduce plastic’ was also highlighted during various activities of the summer fun. The motive behind this was that the kids not only have fun and learn new things but they also imbibe a few life skills during the summer fun.
The first day started with registration of the participants who came along happily to be a part of this fun-filled event. We would begin at 3.00 in the afternoon and conclude at 6.00 in the evening. We always began with a formative session on the movie ‘Brave’, wherein the kids would watch a short clipping of the movie and then they were divided into three age groups. They were given a few questions to discuss in their groups and were also asked to jot down anything that inspired them. After this, they would have free games like badminton, basketball, table tennis, carom, chess, and other indoor games. This was followed by either animated relay games, competitions or outing.
The highlights of summer fun 2019 were sand carving, eco-day, a mini fete which was organized as summer fun outreach which later some of its representatives bought groceries and other essentials out of the money collected and gifted it to the inmates of ‘Asha Mahal’- an organization that shelters women in need. Besides these there were other events like beach games, various tournaments and the last day that is 27th April was unity day wherein three of the children from three different religions spoke about their own religion respectively followed by cutting of the cake and also had a pound party. There were prize distribution and the prizes for Master and Miss Auxilium of Summer Fun 2019.
The children enjoyed these days of fun, learning and being together with each other and went away happy and with gratitude in their heart.
