FAMILY … WHERE LIFE BEGINS, AND LOVE NEVER ENDS. Youth Fest 2017 was held in Shirva for the Karnataka region comprising of Nandgad, Kasarkod, Kalathur and Madanthyar. 82 participated in the youth fest inclusive of both girls and boys. The Youth fest began with inaugural programme animated by Sr. Sajan Gaikwad along with the Shirva girls. Mr. Julian Rodrigues President of Lion Club of Shirva was the Chief Guest of for the Inauguration.
The participants were divided into groups through the ice breakers by Sr. Reshma Rosario and the Sisters. The session was animated by Fr. Steven Luis OFM and the Taize prayer was conducted by Mr. Derrick Mascarenhas, ex- President of ICYM- Udupi Diocese.
The following morning we began with Yoga which was creatively conducted by Sr. Lavita Braganza and was followed by prayer and meditation. Mrs. Maria spoke about relationships and communication. The schools presented a skit and a mime show on the value of Family. It was later followed by the Eucharistic Celebration which was celebrated by Fr. Kiran Nazareth SDB.He highlighted importance of Values of the Talents that we need to appreciate and importance of love in the family. After the Lunch Sr. Mary Lobo had a chart display about the family which was prepared by the various groups. Sr. Teresa D’Souza enthusiastically taught action songs to the participants.The actions plan was drawn up by the schools and hostels and each representative shared their experiences.
Sr. Hilda Mascarenhas, the animator of the Shirva community thanked everyone and distributed prizes. Miss Sushmita thanked everyone especially Sr. Hilda Mascarenhas and the community, the sisters, animators, the teachers and the support staff.It was an enriching experience to all the students who were part of AYM Youth Fest 2017.
