Laura Vicuna Niwas

(Sr.Latha Arogyaswamy) 25th January was an auspicious day in the life of our 2nd year Auxilium Community College students as they celebrated their Graduation Day. There was much excitement as the young rural girls got  ready to give what they have received in this conducive environment. Their parents from near and far turned up for the function. Priests, Religious, Doctors were present for the ceremony.

Sr. Aruna Castellino and our Italians friends were also present. The Chief Guest for the day was our  Rt. Rev. Bishop of the Nasik Diocese, Bishop Lourdes Daniel and the  guest of honor was Fr. Manuel  Murzello , Parish Priest of Don Bosco, Savedi.  All the special invitees were warmly welcomed in the conventional way with flowers, shawl, and coconut. We commenced our programmme by lighting of a lamp and with a meaningful prayer dance invoking God’s presence among us. This was followed with a welcome song. The skit enacted by them was really commendable, imparting the  message to the audience ‘to say no to abortion ‘which was really touching and thought provoking. These girls also shared the report of their yearly activities and their experience at Laura Vicuna Niwas,  Ahmednagar.

The 2nd year Community College students glittered as they walked up to the dais with dignity to receive their certificates .The programme was well appreciated by everyone. The Chief Guest in his speech congratulated the Sisters for the great work done for empowering young rural girls. He told them to be ever grateful to the sisters and serve humanity with love.

At the end of the programme,  all our 2nd year students walked solemnly with their candles lit as they sang ‘carry your candle and go light the world’. After that  lunch was served for everyone present, the girls left for their homes with their relatives. It was indeed a memorable day for each of our young girls who left our campus with much gratitude and lot of loving memories in their hearts.
