AMAR # 1097 AMAZING GRACE MISSION GROUP – An Outreach programme!

On 20 December our community at Auxilium – Oros had the unique joy of welcoming in our midst Mr. & Mrs. Michael Martins & team hailing from Taleigao & other parts of Goa. They arrived around 12 noon with the sole purpose of celebrating Christmas with our Auxilium Home-Care students! They joined us for lunch, had a chat with some of us Sisters & then got set for the programme in the afternoon.

We began at 02.45 p.m. with our students warmly & lovingly welcoming them! Sr. Caroline then introduced the members of the Amazing Grace Mission Group to the students. Mrs. Goretti together with her husband, Mrs. Luisa Cordeiro, Mrs. Carmine Fernandes & Mrs. Josida D’Mello were delighted to spend this precious time bringing sunshine to our Home-Care students. Our students begin with the Christmas tableau highlighting the significant role of Mary & Joseph in bringing Jesus to birth! The well-prepared Crib by our very own students particularly Blossom D’Souza, our Home-Care student & her team was indeed very touching. They took a lot of pain to make it happen. ENKINDLING STARS IN THE LIVES OF THE YOUNG – this theme in preparation for our Provincial Gratitude Day together with Stars lighting up the Christmas sky, was an apt time to thank Jesus for our Provincial, Sr. Rita Dora Thomas & every single member of our M.M. province. The Prayer of Affirmation which began right from 09 December went a long way to make this program happen! We believe that here at Auxilium – Oros, it is important to focus on POSITIVES!

The next item on the program was the lovely song – Jumo Nacho Khushi se Aaj! This song evoked great joy among the members of the AGMG! This was then followed by a beautiful dance – Aaya Pyaara Christmas – a new Hindi song which was well choreographed by Ms Simran Jude, our Home-Care student. Our guests who had come all the way from Goa felt it was a feast to the eye watching these youngsters expressing Christmas beauty so splendidly despite many adverse circumstances! Mrs. Goretti gives them the Christmas message placing in focus the JOY that the Christ-Child brings us each time we celebrate His Birthday! She wished our students the same joy and inspired them to pray for ‘Prayer is the best gift we can offer the world whenever we are in need or in trouble’. Mrs. Josida a past-pupil of Don Bosco – Quepem was deeply touched when she saw the beautiful glass painting of Blessed Laura Vicuna whom she had heard about 35 years ago as a student by one of our FMA. She shared her experience with our students as well as revealed to them how Blessed Laura spoke to her on this very day of the need of reaching out to youngsters & making life meaningful for them. The AGMG team then presented their Christmas treat consisting of useful gifts, abundant snacks & other refreshments. Our young people ate to their hearts contents & were delighted by such extravaganza from persons they had hardly met. By 03.50 p.m. we close our celebrations & move towards the Chapel for the Eucharistic celebration. During the Eucharist celebrated by Fr. Jonathan Ribeiro SDB we glorify & thank the Lord for His immense goodness to our students through this AGMG group that had come all the way from Goa to celebrate this significant feast of LOVE with only a handful of students – Every single child is precious, unique, unrepeatable! They believe in this thus they made this event a one-of-a-kind happy moment for our students.

Soon after the Eucharist, we took a picture all together & thanked the Lord Jesus for having inspired us to ‘Enkindle Stars in the lives of our youngsters’ always and all ways!
