AMAR # 1127 SALFAM DAY 2020!

The SalFam Day was a grand success!

The Mumbai Province had their SalFam day on Sunday 19th January 2020 at St. Joseph High School – Wadala, hosted by the Salesian Cooperators of East and West Wadala. We had a good gathering of about 120 participants, including some FMA, a good number of ADMA members and Past Pupils. There were S. Cooperators also from Gujarat, Nashik and Lonavala, besides Mumbai.

The programme started with a fervent Holy Eucharist presided over by the Provincial Fr. Savio Silveira Sdb and con-celebrated by 4 Delegates of Salesian Cooperators Units. The Provincial was warmly welcomed with a basket of fruits. He gave an engrossing homily inviting the Salesian Family to take it as a mission, like St. John the Baptist in today’s Gospel, to help people see God working in their lives; not as individuals, but as groups; to be a God-centred Family, than activity-centred. Referring to the Strenna 2020, Fr. Savio pointed out that the essence of Salesian Education was, “Your Will be done on earth, as it is in heaven”, in order to be Good Humans and Honest Citizens!  And to make young people protagonists. Fr. Diego Nunes, Sdb Delegate for the Salesian Family, warmly welcomed all and felicitated the Delegates, including the Province President of the Salesian Past Pupils, Mr. Rashmin Desai, and the re-elected National President of the Salesian Past Pupils Federation, Mr. Ketan Gala.  Fr. Diego gave a strong message to get involved on the civic and social front in view of the marginalized and the poor youth. Fr. Brian Moras, Rector of St. Dominic Savio – Andheri, presented the Strenna very well. The S. Cooperators of Wadala West with their graceful dance on the “Meri Atma…” and an amusing Bosconian skit by the ADMA, Housie game with amazing prizes by the Salesian Past Pupils and the vivacious compering by Dolly Afonso made the event more delightful.

All enjoyed the tasty lunch, after the grace before meals by Sr. Catherine Fernandes, FMA Delegate for the Salesian Family.
