AMAR # 1167 Street play at Ahmednagar!

On 17 February 2020, the students of CSRD-ISWR had organized a street play in Viduwadi and Nagapur Zilla Parishad schools to promote the importance of Education. The students are in their fieldwork through the Laura Vicuna Social Centre, under the guidance of Sr. Collette Gonsalves. They come to the Centre two days a week. The students of CSRD-ISWR are working in this area for the last six months. It was a general observation of students that the dropout rate in the ZP schools is more due to a lack of information about the Right to Education (RTE). Parents are not aware of the importance of education in shaping the future of their child. So we the centre of studies of Rural development (CSRD )students, with the help and support of the Laura Vicuna  Social Development Office were happy to present to the SHG women, children and community people a street play on the topic importance of education.

The street play was done in two places.  The content of the street play was about promoting the importance of education and the dialogues were focusing on creating awareness among parents. The street play was an indirect conversation with the parents, telling them about the right to education & giving the right to free and compulsory education to every child until the age of 14.   We got a good response in both places.  The people were very happy and the SHG women were very cooperative and supportive. The follow-up will be done by the students.
