International Women’s Day was celebrated in Auxilium High School, Caranzalem during the School assembly. on 9th March 2020. The notice boards were well decorated for the event. From 8.30 am to 10.30 am we had a special programme for the mothers of our school students.
The celebration began by invoking God with a prayer service, followed by a small programme. We first had a short one-act play with different messages for the women, especially on educating the girl child and respect and equality for both genders alike. We then had a talk for the women by Dr. Sharika Fernandes, a counsellor at a mental clinic and a lecturer at Goa University. She touched many important aspects of a woman’s life, from hygiene, health, respect, self-confidence and giving time for themselves. The girls of the school then performed a dance which was followed by a song on women empowerment. Spot prizes and games were conducted by Sr. Melissa which was thoroughly enjoyed by the women. A short video too was screened that helped the women to understand that they too are strong and can face any trial.
