The 14th of March was a special day for us at Auxilium Caranzalem, a day when our Visiting General Councillor – Sr. Phyllis Neves blessed us with her visit. She was accorded a wonderful welcome by the Sisters, the teachers and the students who were present in different attire and smiling faces at the gate. Sr. Phyllis paused to express a word of appreciation and gratitude to both the teachers and students for the warm welcome. The Sisters then proceeded to the Chapel with Sr. Phyllis, where Sr. Celine Pinto led us into prayer. A small jar was given to each sister which symbolized our openness to be filled with the wine of God’s transforming love. We then moved to the refectory for a short introduction. Sr. Phyllis was then led to the hall where the students entertained her with two thrilling Goan dances. Through a short address, Sr. Phyllis was given a brief description of our school, after which Sr. Phyllis spoke to the students, thanking them and encouraging them to be the best they can be.
In the evening we had a meeting with the past pupils, PTA core group, cooperators and staff members. After a floral tribute and material offering, Sr. Phyllis addressed the mixed group, helping them realize the greatness of being a part of the big Salesian family. A representative of each group stepped forward to share their views and thank the Sisters. This was followed by the most awaited moment, the inaugural of the ‘Golden Jubilee Year’ of our presence here in Caranzalem.
Both Sr. Phyllis and Archbishop Rt. Rev. Filipe Neri Ferrao unveiled the logo of the Jubilee Year after which we had the solemn Eucharist celebration. Our Parish Priest, Fr. Ciprian D’Silva and Rector of Don Bosco, Panjim Fr. Evan Carvalho SDB too graced the occasion with their presence. In the end, a souvenir and snacks were distributed to all.
