6th August 2020 will be remembered as a red letter day in the history of the Province of St. Maria Domenica Mazzarello (INB). It was on this auspicious day that we inaugurated our new house Auxilium Vocational Training Institute at Pethapur, Gandhinagar. This house is situated in the heart of Gujarat, Gandhinagar, which lies on the west bank of the River Sabarmati.
The house was blessed by Archbishop of Gandhinagar Rev. Bp. Thomas Macwan and inaugurated by our Vice-Provincial Sr. Magdeline Sequeira. The house was blessed in the presence of Fathers and Sisters of the three communities of the Gujarat region. Sr. Magdeline expressed the wishes of our Provincial Sr. Rita Dora Thomas and her deepest gratitude to the Archbishop, the architect, the supervisor, the engineer and the priests who collaborated and supported us in building our centre. Our special thanks was expressed to Don Bosco, Jugendhilfe Weltweit – Switzerland who supported the building project generously.
Tokens of appreciation were presented by the animators of the communities of Dakor, Pansora and Baroda.
The solemn Eucharistic celebration was presided over by the Archbishop and con-celebrated by five priests. The Archbishop in his homily spoke about the Transfiguration of Jesus wherein he shared his experience with Jesus and he went on to say that we are blessed to know Christ. He even appreciated the works already being done in the locality by our pioneers Sr. Magdeline Sequeira and Sr. Maria Macwan which include visiting the families and taking tuition classes for the children from the village/ slum areas.
We partook in fellowship meal exchanging a few pleasantries with our sisters and the fathers. It was indeed a joyful day.
We thank the Lord for His blessings and ask Him to bless our sisters and the mission they will carry out in future. May our presence, like a little mustard seed, grow into a big shrub so that the underprivileged children, youth and women may find a home with us, leading them to know Christ and His values and move towards a bright future.
