AMAR # 1419 THE ELDERS ARE A GIFT, A BLESSING FROM GOD says MYC Wadala

On 31ST July 2021, Mazzarello Youth Welfare Centre, Wadala began the day with gratitude, for the presence of the elderly sisters in the community. Art. 59 of our constitution was reflected upon for Faith sharing, this article speaks of the mutual gift of love. Each sister highlighted the values they have learnt over the years from our elderly sisters. It was a moment of inspiration, grace, joy and thankfulness.

In the evening we gathered in the chapel to celebrate the richness and the wisdom of our very own dear sisters of the community. The evening prayer moment was well animated.  Sr. Phyllis Fernandes, Sr. Audrey Dias and Sr. Aruna Castelino, were the focus of the day.

Through their lives the sisters have passed on to us the values and traditions of the Institute.  They have touched lives, created paths, built bridges of community communion by actively participating in all the moments of community living. A lively programme was put up to honour them, they were accompanied to the dining hall with music and dance, and each of these sisters was crowned as a sign of appreciation. They actively took part in the same.

The festive meal which was prepared with much love was enjoyed to the full. As we concluded the day we raise our hands in blessing and appreciated their presence.  Sr. Teresa Plathara, the animator gave them a gift and concluded the day with a ‘Goodnight’ thought.  She invited us to appreciate the presence of the elderly sisters; they in turn sang a song of thanks. The day ended but the bonding and love grew stronger.
