On 13th August at Maria Vihar, Nashik we had a very special adoration on vocations. We were asked to bring the photograph of just one person who helped us in following the Lord. The altar was well prepared for our service. We began our prayer thanking and praising the Eucharistic Lord for his presence among us. We read article 103 of our Constitutions and also a passage from “Pact of our Covenant with God” elaborating the same article. A time of prayer and silence followed.
The most enriching and moving time was when each sister in all simplicity mentioned the name of the person who was instrumental in introducing her to religious life. After each sister completed her sharing she placed the photograph of the person on the altar near Jesus exposed before us. One sister thanked a priest, another sister her father, another sister a sister, another sister her brother, another Mary Help of Christians and two others their own mothers. Listening to each one share her first steps in her vocational journey was heart-warming and enlightening. After each one shared we spent some time praying for the photograph before us.
After everyone had shared, the name of each promoter was said aloud and all of us prayed for them. We concluded our time of prayer imploring the Lord to grant us many holy vocations and to sustain those of us who have already followed Him.
