AMAR # 1431 Salesian Family in Nashik celebrates the Independence Day

On 15th August 2021, the communities of SHTC and Maria Vihar came together to celebrate Independence Day at Shelter Don Bosco at 8:30 am. We were privileged to celebrate this great national day together with Shelter boys and the Hostel girls of Maria Vihar. The Chief Guest for the programme was Sr. Wilma De Souza. The function began with the march past, hoisting of the flag and saluting the flag which flutters high in the sky. This was followed by the lighting of the lamp, prayer dance, and felicitation of the guests. Fr. Roshan Gonsalves sdb, in charge of the Shelter welcomed our Chief Guest and the esteemed guests by offering them potted plants.

The programme consisted of dances, skits, mimes, patriotic songs and speeches which were presented by the Shelter boys, the hostel girls and the novices of SHTC. All the items focussed on the importance of Independence Day and the freedom enjoyed by people of every caste and religion. Sr. Salome D’Souza addressed a few words to the gathering on the theme of the Independence Day, insisting that all of us use our right appropriately at the service to society. This solemn day concluded by singing a patriotic song ‘Vande Mataram.’

Indeed it was a happy and memorable day for all of us as we celebrated the 75th Independence Day.
