AMAR # 1432 Twin celebrations at Auxilium Skills Academy, Wadala

As our Nation celebrates its 75th Independence Day, we at Auxilium Skills Academy celebrated Independence Day and the feast of Our Lady of Assumption with much zest and enthusiasm on August 14, 2021. More than 85 youth were present for the program. The chief guest for the event was Rev. Fr. Allwyn Misquitta (Parish Priest, St Dominic Savio Church, Antophill), the guest of honours Rev Sr. Magdeline Sequeira (Superior, Auxilium Convent High School, Wadala) and Rev Sr. Teresa Plathara (Superior, MYC, Wadala). The programme started with a grand parade welcoming the guests by the youth of ITES, followed by a prayer moment by Ms. Siona Peris and Mrs. Tenu Daniel. The readings were taken from the scriptures of Quran, Bible and Bhagavad-Gita was read by the youth.

Then, the chief guest Rev. Fr. Allwyn Misquitta, the guest of honour Rev Sr Magdeline Sequeira and Rev Sr Teresa Plathara along with Sr Rosaline Pereira (CEO, Auxilium Skills Academy) paid homage” to late Fr Stan Swamy a tribal rights activist accused of terrorism in India and jailed 8 for months. Then we welcomed the guest with a sapling and roses. The cultural programme included a speech by Ms. Alfiya, dance performance by the beautician and ITES students. The highlight of the programme was the Indian cultural pageant by the Graphic Design and ITES students.  The message given to the youth by the chief guest Rev Fr. Allwyn Misquitta was the power of prayer, power of studies, power of real love, power of cleanliness and power of service to humanity. He said to apply these powers in our daily life.

Prizes and certificates were distributed to the students for regular attendance, student mobilization, Go green competition, card competition. Later, Sr. Rosaline organized a spot prize competition where the youth were asked relevant questions from the event. Mrs Rosemary Daniel proposed the vote of thanks and the youth danced to some foot-tapping music. The event came to an end with the distribution of delicious snacks for the students and the staff.
