AMAR # 1440 Celebration of Rakshabandhan at Auxilium, Lonavala

On the 13th of August, 2021, the students of Auxilium Convent High School, Lonavala, were enthusiastically involved in the preparation of rakhis which would be used on Friday to celebrate the bond of love between brothers and sisters on Sunday, the 20nd of August, 2021, during the prayer service.

Rakshabandhan is a special occasion to celebrate the emotional bonding of a sister tying a holy thread around her brother’s wrist. Every student tried their best to prepare beautiful rakhis in the best way possible. Celebrating Rakshabandhan, the students embraced the occasion to honour their own brothers at home, and went a step further to honour the frontline workers in and around their neighbourhood, be it doctors, policemen, nurses, and others who in one way or the other have contributed to make our surroundings a little more safe in the midst of this precarious situation of the pandemic. Another initiative that the students took up was to tie rakhis to the trees or plants, acknowledging the protecting role they play in our lives, providing us with all that we need, especially with the life sustaining oxygen.  Thus, the students brought a smile to these hidden heroes and also showed their appreciation for the efforts they put in to make our life more comfortable. May this festival bring us together, first of all as creation and then as humanity, thus uniting our efforts to make this world we live in, a better and happier place to live in.
