The girl-child day was celebrated on 10th September here at Maria Vihar, Nashik.
The theme given to them was “Appreciation of the Girl-child”. The Hostellites were divided into 3 groups and were asked to bring out the theme on posters or a rangoli. At 7.00 p.m. all of us sister and the girls assembled together to listen to the groups. The first group expressed their ideas on posters specifying the importance of Freedom. They brought this out with their poster: Give a girl the right shoes and she will conquer the world”. The group explained this to us telling us that when a girl is free she can really be herself and develop herself without any fear.
The second group again has as their theme: “Listen to the cry of the girl and appreciate her”. They elaborated on their theme telling us how many girls shed silent tears because of the pains and suffering they go through in life. They concluded telling us that each girl has to appreciate and love herself. The third group expressed their idea with a rangoli. Their theme was on “Appreciating life”. The life of a girl has to be preserved right from conception and then led to freedom to live her life to the full.
As the youngsters completed their explanations in each group the sisters asked them questions on some ideas and also clarified ides that were not clear. Each sister also appreciated all that they had done in a very short time. That was not the end of the evening. The sisters had baked a cake for them and after the girls and sisters cut the cake the girls were left free to share it among themselves. It was indeed a pleasant time together.
