AMAR # 1474 Teachers' Day celebrated at Auxilium Lonavla

“Teachers are the backbone of any country, the pillar upon which all aspirations are converted into realities”. These are the words that resound on this day when we celebrate the noblest profession that exists – Teachers. On 4th September, 2021, a day before Teachers’ Day, when India celebrates the birthday of the well-known scholar, philosopher and teacher, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the former President of India, there was buzzing and celebration at Auxilium Convent School, Lonavala. Some of the students had gathered amidst the looming danger of the pandemic to shower their praise and gratitude to their beloved teachers. The celebration began with a grand welcome of the teachers into a beautifully decorated hall which was followed by a short prayer by the Higher Secondary students. This was followed by dances, song and speeches. The celebration concluded with a surprise item of the Sisters blessing the teachers through their blessing song. The class teachers then attended an online meeting with their respective classes who had prepared their own programme for their own class teachers. They were then treated with a festal meal.

As the words of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan go, “The end product of education should be a free creative person, who can battle against historical circumstances and adversities of nature”. Our teachers are the unsung heroes who mould us, lead us to success and then remain in the background while their students enter the limelight. Let us cherish and celebrate the life of these great backstage formators.
