“Instead of celebrating my birthday, it would be my proud privilege, if 5th September is observed as teacher’s day” was the remarkable request of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan an educator, scholar and philosopher. This privileged event was celebrated on 4th September 2021, at Mazzarello Kendra, Kasarkod, with the theme, “Teachers you shine like a Sunflower”.
The programme began with a meaningful prayer service animated by the students of high school section, by thanking God for their teachers and praying for them. The students then showed their appreciation by performing dances, singing thank you songs, acting as teachers and also through their words of appreciation towards teachers for their dedication and passion in teaching them and imparting not only the knowledge but also the values to be good human in the society. Everybody acknowledged how teachers are shining as a ‘sunflower’, especially during this digital learning era.
As the high school section students wished and thanked their teachers by being there present on that day, the students of Auxilium English Medium School and Mazzarello Kannada Primary section, wished and appreciated their teachers through online programmes of dance, singing and speeches, which was displayed during the programme. Thus, both offline and online celebration brought much joy to all our teachers.
At the end Sr. Irene Pinto gave a short message to the students and teachers, appreciating all the teachers for their service and emphasizing the importance of the day and Sr. Asha Linette, the headmistress thanked all the students for their gesture of gratitude towards teachers. Later the students gave a token of appreciation to the teachers, given by the management and a potted plant and then they conducted few games for the teachers. The winners were given the prizes. We concluded the celebration with many more selfies, photo sessions and also the snacks, which were distributed to all.
