“God loves a cheerful giver”, these words of St. Paul were highlighted on 6th December 2021, as the communities of Maria Vihar and SHTC Novitiate organised an evening for the young girls of Maria Vihar- the hostel girls and the Boarders. The theme for that day was “Time with God, Self and Others. The evening began with a prayer moment creatively animated by Sr. Jasmine Fernandes, making them aware that they are called to be the light and that light should continuously shine. Sr. Hilda Mascarenhes introduced the groups and declared the evening open. Later a short session was taken by Sr.Jaya Pedthala which was interesting and enriching as the hostellers were made aware of their selves and to accept themselves as they are. Sr.Vanita and the Novices took the opportunity to animate games and to teach them action songs, it truly made them to tap their feet and participate in the same wholeheartedly.
This wonderful evening concluded with our Salesian tradition of the Goodnights. It was given by Sr.Salome D’Souza. The girls were enriched as she spoke about seeking God in others, to love their parents and also encouraged them to be the beacon of light wherever they are.
Indeed the evening filled us with the Mornesian Spirit and once again re-echoed in our hearts Mary’s words to Mary Mazzarello “I entrust them to you”.
