It was a very festive occasion and a day of gratitude to God, when seven members of the Salesian Co-operators Unit of L.V. Niwas – Ahmednagar took their Promise on 22nd January 2018 in the beautifully bedecked Don Bosco Church – Savedi, witnessed by many parishioners, their families and friends, Salesian Co-operators, the Sisters with their boarders and students of Community College, Sr. Catherine Fernandes – Province Delegate of the Salesian Family, and the Salesian Fathers.
The memorable day coincided with the feast of our Blessed Laura Vicuna and the first day of the novena in preparation for the feast of Don Bosco. The liturgy, especially the Promise Ceremony, was made solemn with a superb choir and the singing of the litany of Saints, thanks to the Parish Priest Fr. Vishwas Pereira, who presided at the Eucharist. The new Salesian Co-operators felt honoured with the presence of the Provincial Fr. Godfrey D’Souza, and to receive through him the Certificates and Constitutions (Project of Apostolic Life). Sr. Collette Gonsalves, the local Delegate, presented them with a meaningful memento, a gesture of welcome into the third group of our great Salesian family.
After the Eucharist, the Salesian Co-operators expressed their joy by distributing cake to all. Back in L.V. Niwas, they served a delicious dinner to the children, Sisters, Salesians and their relatives.
The children enhanced this happy celebration with a short programme, during which they felicitated the new Salesian Co-operators with a welcome song and a dance followed by a skit on the life of Laura Vicuna.
