AMAR # 380 Aux-Caranzalem celebrates Catechetical and Value Ed. day

By Sr. Melissa D’Souza

Value Education Week was celebrated at Auxilium High School, Caranzalem from the 5th to the 10th of February. The theme for the entire week was: The Love of God Urges Me On. Each class had a turn to animate the Morning Assembly, while the theme was highlighted on the Notice Board.
On the 9th of February we had the Holy Eucharist celebrated by Rev. Fr. Avil Rodrigues who lovingly invited both staff and students to respond to the love of God. The entire week concluded in a grand manner on the 10th with the Value Education Day, wherein each class put up an item highlighting values learnt in school. Items were in the form of song, dance and skit. Tr. Joy who was the compere for the day made the entire programme interesting by narrating value based stories in between each item. Fr. Pedru D’Costa, the assistant Parish Priest was the Chief Guest for the day. In his speech, he encouraged the children to live the values they learn in school. He then gave away the prizes for the deserving students of both the Religion and Value Education classes – children who had not only performed well in exam but whose conduct is worth imitating.
In the Primary, Ms. Blanche Luis was the Chief Guest. Here too, the children put up different items in the form of action songs and skits. She gave away the prizes to the deserving students.
Prior to the Value Education Week, we celebrated the Unity Week. Each day a different Religion was highlighted, the symbol, the Holy Book and the main teaching. All repeated the Unity Prayer after the assembly. In this way, we prayed for each other, and for peace and unity – not only in school among students but in our country as a whole.
