AMAR # 402 School Gratitude Day at Mundhwa
On the 9th February 2018, liturgical feast of Blessed Eusebia Palomino, the Patroness of our Pre-Primary School, the School community celebrated the day as Gratitude Day.
To make it more understandable to the kids we called it the “Thank You Day”. It was a day of celebration for sisters, teachers, Staff, Helpers and the School Children.
Around 10.00am the children gathered in the Nursery Hall to greet the Manager of the School Rev. Sr. Wilma De Souza as well as the Sisters and Teachers. The teachers and children came well dressed in colourful clothes. A prayer moment followed, thanking God for the animator, the Sisters and the teachers. As the children are gifts to our School, so too each Sister is a gift to them, accompanying them during a part of life’s journey.  The children then performed some small items of thanksgiving, for which they were lovingly prepared by the two teachers Sr. Shilpa Gonsalves and Sr. Smitha Gonsalves and by Teacher Lorna and helper Sheetal.  It was a fitting day to express our gratitude towards God for His many blessings on our school, our staff and the children.
The animator Sr. Wilma De Souza spoke a few words to the children. She questioned them of the significance of the day. And the tiny tots responded in chorus, “Thank You Day”. She explained to them the meaning of gratitude and the need to cultivate this virtue towards God, parents, teachers, elders and everyone.  The children raised their voices and shouted aloud “We love you sister, God Bless You! We love our School and our teachers”.
The little celebration concluded with the distribution of whistles, lollipops to the kids. So for the next half hour the school basement resounded with whistles as the children sucked their lollipops and whistled on them in excitement.  Everyone was excited and joyfully said thanked the Sisters.
