AMAR # 509 Awareness Programme at Aux - BARODA

The Baroda Citizens Council conducted the seminar for the student’s of English and Gujarati medium from class 1 to IX on 7th and 8th of August 2018.  A team of four young dynamic resource persons Ms. Priya, Ms. Purvi, Ms. Niyati and Ms. Charan, who are part of Baroda Citizens Council, came to give a short briefing on child safety and POCSO Mitra. It was well animated, informative seminar and was very helpful for the students.  The student’s queries also were answered and emphasis was given on how to prevent child abuse and to spread awareness. 

The speaker laid emphasis on our human feelings- Positive feelings and Negative feelings. A positive feeling is a feeling of being loved, expressing joy and happiness and a Negative feeling is a feeling of anger, confusion, shame, shock, sadness, guilt, cry, and fear.

The children were told the importance and difference of safe touch and unsafe touch, the touch of different people. The safe touch is mostly with parents. The unsafe touch is in areas of the private body zones ie; lips, chest (breast), parts between the legs and buttocks. The children were also made aware of being the boss of their own body and how important each one’s body is.

The defensive mechanism told to them are – if someone touches you, you should say NO, next SHOUT for help, and TELL someone you trust and lastly RUN from the place.

The speaker also made the children understand the need to report/ tell the teachers, parents or intimate the Childline for support. They can also put in their complaints at the POCSO e-box. The Childline no.1098 is open for calls 24 hours. It’s a child-friendly helpline.
