AMAR # 680 Sports Meet at Aux-Carona

When we face different phases in our lives with determination, discipline, and sincerity, we have set the spirit of harmony and progress.

Sports are one of the wonderful ways to instill these qualities in young minds. The Biannual Sports day of Auxilium Primary School was held on 22nd January 2019 on the feast of our young saint Blessed Laura Vicuna. The spirit of the occasion was ushered in with a grand reception of the Chief Guest, impressive march past, hoisting of sports and institutional flag and a mesmerizing drill display.

Mr. Nelson Figuiredo retired director of Agriculture was the Chief Guest of the Ceremony. The chief guest hoisted the flag signaling the start of the Sports Meet. After the inspection of the four houses, Red, Blue, yellow and green, the March past and Oath Taking Ceremony followed. The oath was taken by Master Reis D’Souza, the Sports Head-Boy and the students solemnly pledged to uphold the spirit of true sportsmanship. The Chief Guest declared the meet open and then followed the arrival of the torch. The captains of the four houses were the torchbearers.

The various colourful Maypole drill, dupatta drill, the ball drill, peacock drill, fire drill, cheering drill, flower drill,  were warmly and enthusiastically received by the audience. The crowning glory of the whole event was the few track events that were very nostalgic. After the students’ events, the parents and staff members also participated in the events scheduled for them.

Pyramid formation of both boys and girls were not just a glimpse of students’ talent but true proof that the students are channeling their abundant energy in the right direction.  The students showcased their unity and physical strength in their mass drill. The sense of sportsmanship and enthusiasm displayed, surely increased the excitement of the audience.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest expressed that besides quality education, the school is keen on encouraging the students to excel in their innate talent in the arena of sports and games. He congratulated the brilliant display of the students and appreciated the efforts of the management. The prize distribution ceremony was held with great pride apparent on the faces of the participants as well as winners. The trophy was bagged by the Red House.

At the end of the events, the flag was lowered and was handed to the winning Sports captain Master Reis D’Souza.  The National Anthem was sung at the end left each one of us with the spirit of nationality, integrity, and harmony.
