AMAR # 690 Republic Day at Aux-Lonavla

A solemn entry marked the start of our nations 70th Republic day. Our Chief Guest, Mrs. Cecy  D’cruz, Superior, Sr. Josephine Fernandes and Principal Sr. Sheela  Furtado were given a fitting with our school captains bearing their respective flags.

After a word of welcome, the Chief Guest, our retiring teacher, Mrs. Cecy D’Cruz was invited to hoist the flag. The school then saluted the flag, sang the national anthem and a patriotic song.

Then followed a prayer service for our nation. Scriptures were read from various religions and prayers sent up.

The four houses were ready for the march past competition. The Chief Guest inspected the platoons. The three march past judges, Trs. Ms. Rebecca John, Mrs. Supriya Hinge and Mrs. Usha Mudliar took up their positions to judge the fiercely contested march past competition. There was also the Girl Guide platoon.

The national colours green, white and saffron fluttered as our primary students performed a flag drill. Students of the secondary section also performed colourful drills. There was an informative item on our Constitution and Rights.

The Girl Guides presented pyramids with much energy and enthusiasm. Their pyramids were a testimony to physical exercise, skill, and excellent motor coordination.

A colourful dance integrated culture with patriotism. It was performed by secondary section students.

The students of junior college performed a patriotic dance.

Mr. Afzal, our games instructor trained students who presented a yoga drill. It was a blend of strength and grace. ‘Jai Ho’ that’s the spirit of our Motherland India A tribute was paid to the brave Indian soldiers of our armed forces with a heart-rending act performed by our students.

Sports prizes were them awarded to the winners of our Sports Week, games and other activities.

The Chief Guest addressed the school and paid glowing tributes to our leaders. She gave us the message of working for the nation.

The vote of thanks was proposed by a student. The celebration of our republic day thus ended on a happy note with the singing of Vande Mataram.
