AMAR # 693 Youth Day at Dahanu

The Salesian Sisters organised ‘Youth Day’ on January 26, 2019, at Auxilium Youth Animation Centre Dahanu with the theme “Awaken Your Vision”.

The program began with registration where we were marked with different colours to denote our groups. Through the ice-breakers Sr. Sushma Solanki enabled us to interact with each other in small groups and know the members. We then moved to the hall chanting patriotic songs in honour of our beloved Motherland. Sr. Santana led us into prayer wholly based on the theme of the day keeping before us a few models like Iqbal Masih, Malala and Don Bosco, who lived their vision. Mr. Roland Rapose, the resource person of the day, awakened us to our personal vision which should be for the benefit of the society too. The group discussion led us to see parents’ and teachers’ vision climaxing with our own vision for ourselves. Thereafter we enjoyed the lunch which was prepared by the family cell members of Dahanu Parish.  We had many lively games and ending with the Tarpa dance which brought in us the feeling of oneness and team spirit.

In the second session, we were asked to focus on our vision and helped us formulate a vision statement and were guided on how to strive to achieve it. The program concluded with a ‘Vote of Thanks’ given by our youth member Ms Carol Moraes and with a meaningful prayer by Sr. Santana Pereira on ‘You are the salt and light of the world’ which accompanied us through the day and at the conclusion we held salt in one hand and held the other by her/his hand praying for her/him.  We, the forty-five of us happily departed for the day with a vision and with many memories that we will always cherish.  Compiled by Ms. Carol Moraes, Ms. Reshma George, and Ms. Fiona Nazareth
